This year there was a special request for the Easter Outfits to be comfortable – I am a bit sad that I may be losing the ability to dress my almost 9 year old in fancy clothes, but am happy to support her personal choices!

We turned to the 4/2012 Ottobre design magazine and found this cute and comfortable knit ensemble. I had purchased some of the Karavan knits by Valori Wells last year, and supplemented them with Campan striped knits I found at the Ottobre Etsy site and at Banberry Place. This was my first time working with Framilon elastic tape and it makes gathering knits much easier!

The tops were a little bit big, but I find even when I have pre washed and dried twice, the knits still shrink a bit. They also wanted to wear them right away, so I hadn’t had a chance to press the neckline binding when these photos were taken. From the original pattern picture, the pants were also capri length, which is not as evident on my younger daughter.

The outfits were so well received that I turned to my Liberty Jane Pattern library. The doll leggings are from the UK Holiday Top and Leggings pattern (though I lengthen the top and bottom of the pants), the Baseball T Shirt and the Heritage Party Skirt patterns, for matching 18″ doll approximations of the Ottobre outfit. They look pretty happy (and comfortable) to me!
