Post image for free pattern from purl soho, baby mocs

In my last post, I outlined how I had used free patterns to create a unisex baby layette gift. I wanted to add in small booties to compliment the gowns (and keep those little toes warm!). I searched for a pattern to use up my leftover Madeline Tosh Pashmina (sport) and found the Purl Soho Baby Moc pattern.

These were meant to be as neutral as possible (we don’t know the sex of the baby), but given the February 11th due date, I couldn’t resist the heart duplicate stitch. I used the dots to try to mimic the pattern in the horse jersey print.

baby gift dot bootiesFor the striped version:

  • worked in stripes of 4, except for the cuff which I left in CC for 5 rows
  • added 1 row to the 7 rows on the neck of the sock
  • carried the CC across the k20 when starting the shaping the instep
  • worked the MC for the pick up 41 and the p, k, p rows
  • used the CC for the sole of the moc
