We have a wonderful option at our local public schools, where the children go to outdoor school for 3 days and 2 nights in grade 3, and 5 days and 4 nights in grade 6.

Outdoor school “provides students and teachers the opportunity to explore and discover a wide range of natural connections in our 165 ha (420 acre) ecological reserve.” They live in cabins with their classmates and have very fun volunteer counselors from local high schools.

My second daughter gets to go this year for the first time, and ‘needed’ new pj’s for the event. I used view ‘B’ from the Pattern Emporium’s Kids Harem Pants PDF Pattern, substituting some leftover interlock fabric from my stash for the pockets, waistband and cuffs – for extra comfort! The shirt was from Ottobre 3/2013 design 29, but I had to crop it by about (3.75 cm) 1.5 inches to fit it onto my scrap piece of interlock.
