My daughter and her friend previously finished these drawstring backpacks, based on a tutorial from Happy in Red. We are headed up to Whistler for a few days with my parents and my Aunt for spring break, and I thought it would be fun to package up the girls activities in coordinating bags.
I have been eying up these Cotton+Steel fabrics at Stitch and Bobbin for a few weeks, as my girls’ favourite colours are pink and aqua too! With the added glam of bronze and gold, they are also suitably more tween like than some of kid fabrics I have used for bags previously. I needed 0.5 m in each colour to fussy cut the bags and match up the pattern at the top and sides. I lined them in a cute Moda polka dot fabric that I had in my stash.
Girls loved them and felt very grown up with their new bags – despite the fact that they were filled with American Girl activity books and smelly markers : ) .
