My girls are pre-teens now, so it isn’t very often that I get to make baby clothes for friends and family. One of the Moms in my eldest daughter’s class is having her baby on February 11th, and it was the perfect opportunity to get back to sewing with knits. When my girls were little, I had a few of these baby gowns in soft jersey, but didn’t have luck finding multiples of them in nice fabrics – I was therefore excited to find this free baby gown tutorial from Stitched Together,

I feel this was a perfect fit for these fabrics, which have languished in my stash for over two years, and my youngest daughter recently declared ‘too babyish’ for her. The beanie hats were based on this free pattern from Heidi & Finn, however, I trimmed 1/4″ off of the pattern to size it down to a 0-3 months size (the gowns are supposed to fit up to 3 months). I also fully lined the beanies and didn’t use the brim piece.

I based the blanket on this post from Sew4Home and used the binding tutorials from Made by Rae to refresh my skills on binding the necklines and the blanket.

My only concern now is whether they feel these are unisex enough, and also how long they will fit!
