a life too busy for crafts

The last few months have been quite frankly, exhausting. Our previous caregiver decided to move on after 4 years with us, and we have had a few hiccups finding the right person to meet our needs. Even though the girls are in school now, trying to fit in 4 full days of Mom work time using jury rigged childcare, was a challenge that I struggled to meet.

With MJP away for last 2 1/2 weeks on top of this, the girls and I needed to break up our time together a bit, so we booked train tickets to Seattle. The trip down was lovely, with the highlight of 21 (we counted) juvenile and full-grown bald eagles taking flight as we passed through White Rock, BC. A ‘girlie’ lunch at the American Girl store, the Seattle Science Center and Pike Place market made for a busy two days.

Favorite moments – when G announced in the children’s shoe department at Nordstrom’s, “(Sigh), I love Seattle”, and when A asked, “Why would anyone do that to cherries” when she had her first Shirley Temple. Apples and the tree, I guess. I am looking forward to the opportunity to take 6 weeks of unpaid leave in the summer, and will kick off the summer with a trip back home (to Mom) in Ontario. I haven’t even looked at a project during these past few weeks, however I have a few craft projects lined up for June though, including the Sis Boom Marissa dress, for the girls to wear to the Toronto production of Wizard of Oz.
