day 2: derailed by the cronopio dentiacutus

Okay, so on day 2 you are supposed to begin to tackle your music collection. If my friend Christine’s husband is a squirrel, then I have to refer to mine as the “cronopio dentiacutus” or, alternatively, the prehistoric saber-toothed squirrel. I’ll swear the artist’s rendering is a close proximity of how he would look if I brought up downsizing his music collection.

Sigh.

So, instead, I targeted the girls’ DVD collection and found new homes for about 25 Little Einstein and Backyardigan movies that no one has watched in two years. In preparation for our first trip to Hawaii in April (big yay), I also went through their summer clothes, to figure out what we can give away, and what should still work for the trip and for this summer. One large bag of duplicate summer clothes found it’s way to our favourite 4 year old identical twins.

Given that my second step in planning any vacation, after booking it, is usually to outfit the girls in new clothes, I’m going to chalk this one up to a victory for anti consumerism. Thanks to the minimalist packrat for referencing the abbreviated Thoreau quote “I say beware of all enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes.” I need to resemble this.

We’ll call it a draw though as I’m leaving the music discussion for another day.
