We are caving. My girls are some of the last in their classes to own some sort of ‘i’ product and we have decided they are old enough to take care of iPad Minis. I won’t go into the debate we had about whether this was the right time / okay, but will say that the message they have received from us is that Grandma and Grandpa, Aunts and their families, and Mama and Papa are sending their money to Santa so that this can happen.

I wasn’t quite ready to have that be their only gift (more about me than them) and wanted them to have a few homemade items as well. The first of these included finishing up Rollie Pollie bean bag chairs (pattern from Made blog) for their rooms. I purchased these beautiful organic fabrics several years ago, when Jan DiCintio had a custom printing fabric shop on Etsy (before Daisy Janie). The pattern itself was easy to follow, though I took the advice of several other bloggers, and stuffed the inserts in my garage to avoid a giant mess in my house. The letters were appliqued using dark purple felt, and the girls were very excited about the results!

The chair at the top was for my 10 year old nephew (an android, not an apple fan). I sized up the pattern by 15%, which required much more fabric as the pieces were wider than half the width of the fabric, so we needed 4 times the length of the side pieces. They will be useable for a longer period of time for my taller than average nephew. For reference, I am a little over 5’5″ and I was able to sit comfortably in his chair.
