My girls were thrilled with the gold and silver wins by Canadian sisters Justine and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe and asked me to make them dresses to “match”. The Aline dress pattern from Lil Blue Boo, was a terrific starting point, and I added in a jersey applique of the a maple leaf to make the dresses look more like this year’s Canadian Olympic outfits. It was my first time with jersey applique, and since I did not have lightweight fusible webbing, I added sheer interfacing to the maple leafs and then ‘glued’ them on with the rather toxic, 606 Spray & Fix Fusible Adhesive. I also used the tutorial on the Lil Blue Boo site for How to Make a Pieced Blocked Dress as a guideline.
